We performed at the assembly

We performed 2 songs and an action poem at today's Celebration of Learning Assembly. Here are videos of us practicing the songs in our classroom. Enjoy!

Big Partners

We were thrilled this morning to visit our big partners in their classroom. We had to find words we know using the letters in "I Love Snow". The Kindergarteners were impressive!

Living and Nonliving

We wrapped up our unit about living and nonliving with some special shares at morning meeting. Kids brought in something and had to prove if it was living or nonliving. What fun!

Some more furry visitors

This morning we had 2 friends bring in their bunnies. Logic  was very shy and didn't want to come out of his crate. Thumper was not shy at all and enjoyed walking around the rug to meet the class. She proved she was living by leaving a little something on our rug.

Field trip to the office

Some of us were wondering how the announcements come over the speaker everyday. So... we went to visit Mrs. Utter in the office to find out. We got to talk to Mrs. Wisell in her office. Cool!

Look! We are readers!

These kids read a whole book for the class! Way to go!

Fundations is fun!

We had fun doing our Fundations work today! We used letter puzzles to match the letter with a picture of a word that begins with that letter sound. Some of us used our letter boards and tiles to make words. We practiced our magic skills and changed some words by just changing one letter! Sad became mad and bad and then bed. Wow!

Great Math centers today!

Today kids worked on number ID, subitizing, counting, teen numbers and writing numbers in our Math centers. Our brains certainly grew today!

We took our learning to the hallway

The class was so excited today to have a science lesson in the hallway! First, we each drew a picture of a living thing and a nonliving thing. Then we all went to the hallway to sort our items. We put all of the living things on the tree and all of the nonliving things on the rock. We had some great discussions. Are bananas and strawberries living things? We decided that they used to be living. Are clouds living things? What do you think?

Big Parnters 1/15

This morning, we had a visit from our big partners. We were able to have "Choice time" with them. We did many different activities - created at the art table, played with the kitchen, played with Legos, trains, the dollhouse, play-doh and the sand table. I think the 3/4 students miss choice time.

Four Winds Fun!

We had an awesome visit from Mrs.Brown and Miss Rebecca today for Four Winds. We learned about how animals stay warm in the winter. We intently watched a puppet show about mice and other animals. Then we did an awesome Science experiment. We had 4 jars of hot water (99 degrees). We used different materials to insulate the jars and had one control jar that we did not insulate. We made a hypothesis or prediction that the woolwould keep the water the warmest - we thought it would be the wool. It turned out to be the feathers -the water in that jar was 84.2 degrees. Then we found some awesome animal tracks in the snow and played a really fun matching game to learn what some animals do in the winter to stay warm. It was an awesome science exploration time!

Living and nonliving

This month, we are learning about how scientists determine if something is living or nonliving. We came up with 5 questions to help us out.

Remember to bring in non-perishable food items for our 100 days of school food drive. Only 18 more school days to collect. Right now, we have 15 items.

Learning with Mr.Urban

We are lucky to have Mr. Urban visit our classroom on Thursday mornings. Today he helped us practice what we should do if we need to wait for something. Then we played "The Noodle game" to practice relaxing our bodies.

Choice time

We are having fun this week creating with Legos and playing the Super Why ABC game.

Happy New Year!

Welcome back!
We are all happy to be back at school after a two week break. We eased back into our classroom routines today.
During Math, we began counting collections. Many of us found groups of five to help count our items.
