Our field trip to the Have a Heart Food Shelf

The Kindergarten students collect 87 cans and packages of non-perishable food items. So, it was time to bring them to our local food shelf. We loaded them up in wagons and walked into town. We all had a turn pulling the wagon. We even snuck some Science in - we are learning about pushes and pulls.

When we got there, we each helped to carry the food down the stairs and put it on the table. Then Rebecca Price taught us about what will happen to all of the food. Each person that comes to the food shelf gets a bag filled with food for about 3 days. Each bag has a dozen eggs, spaghetti sauce, macaroni and cheese, toilet paper and much more.

Then, we got to play at the wonderful park in our town! You can just see the pure joy on their happy faces!

What a great way to spend an afternoon together!
